Audi Q8 SUV Vorsprung 50 TDI 286PS Quattro Tiptronic auto 5d Owner Review

I've recently bought a Q8, having traded in a high mileage Q5. I've owned previously Q5,A6, A4, VW Passat and this beats them all for build quality. It just feels so solid and well built. Immediate thoughts.. have I made a mistake as the vehicle is a lot bigger than you think, take a test drive before you buy. Once you get used to the size though, it is absolutely planted on the road, very comfortable in comfort mode with the air suspension and great engine it just purrs with plenty of power! I bought the car in Scotland and drove to London so far only putting approximately 600 miles on it. In fact, as I have the Super Sports seats that are really comfortable, I felt I could have driven another 600 miles in them.

Good points
Solid on the road, feels so safe and secure. Very comfortable ride, very spacious, unique design. Solid V6 Diesel engine, reasonable economy if driven carefully.

Bad points
The engine can be quite juicy to run if you hammer it. I managed to get over 40mpg running at 67mph, overall average so far 36.7mpg which for a car of this size in incredible. Parking, it is a beast of a car and the design hides its size. On the motorway no problem but in inner City you then notice you struggle to find a suitable space. I've only taken ownership of this car for two weeks, but initially impression, I have bought a very good and solid car. It looks good, I have the full black pack and Vorsprung model so have all the toys but no wireless phone charger, apparently to do with the time being built during Covid and shortage of spare parts from Germany!

One or two small issues I have noticed, power window blind won't retract into holder and heads up display seems to tilt at an angle, which hopefully will get fixed under Audi used car warranty but otherwise very pleased with my purchase. As others have said here, maybe don't go for black to provide a nice contrast, saying that I have the black pack and cleaned up it looks just awesome!

Finally, you can tell you have bought an expensive car with the quality of the materials and as a second hand car I bought at half the price of new, I'm very pleased and looking forward to many years of happy motoring. As others have said you don't see tons of Q8s on the road, so quite unique in many ways too.
