Austin Montego Estate 2.0 DSL Turbo 5d (1989/G) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Good value due to poor image: I paid £1000 four years ago.
Costs
Parts from breakers available.
-
On the road
Driving
Power steering is not brilliant at low speeds.
Performance
Turbo gives it a kick for a diesel - hardly wild, but acceptable.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Diesel vibration/rattle loosens nuts, especially fuel riser.
Image
A shoebox. Hardly a pulling car, but plenty of room inside.
Comfort
Very roomy. Wind noise from roof bars. Take care if removing them - they're spring-loaded.

Security and Service
Security
But I don't think it's high on the list for car thieves.
