Hailing from a family of motoring journalists, Seth was raised on a steady diet of performance car statistics and high-octane school runs. The exotics on his driveway would revolve like Tory prime ministers; he’s assured us that as a young kid, that really was as good as it sounds. After a brief spell of wanting to write about music – too chi chi, too pretentious in the end – he decided to try his hand at the motoring hack craft instead.
Seth joined parkers.co.uk as an affiliate content writer in 2022. Road testing was a little way off back then, but he says the experience it provided has been invaluable, as it afforded him a useful insight into the Parkers brand, its style, and what our writing means to our readers.
In early 2023, he moved over to the editorial team as a full-time ownership content writer. It was a new position at the time, coming into effect with Seth’s appointment, which he says added a certain extra level of healthy pressure to the role. According to Seth, he revelled in his position as an ownership content writer as it allowed him to develop his credentials as a motoring journalist and broaden his remit of topics.
Though his subject matters were perhaps not always the most glamorous, it was a chance to get into the entrails of car ownership and the laws by which UK motorists abide. For the first time, Seth had his finger on the pulse of UK road legislation decision making – a feed of information that has since provided useful context to his work.
Today, Seth’s a staff writer on the Parkers road test desk. His duties include refreshing car review pages with up-to-date testing, reporting on car launches and other industry events both at home and abroad, and the occasional news story when needed.
Seth’s top tips for Parkers readers are:
-
- Develop even a rudimentary understanding of car maintenance to prolong your car’s lifetime. It could save you thousands of pounds in the future, or possibly save your car.
-
- When preparing for a trip abroad, always do your research on the local driving laws of your destination. They change more than you may think, so keep on the right side of the law with some due diligence.
