Bentley Continental GT Convertible (2006-2012) boot space, practicality and safety
Driver and passenger front airbags and side airbags are fitted as standard but unfortunately chopping off the Continental GT’s roof means the GTC does without curtain airbags. But seatbelt pretensioners are present as are roll hoops that pop up if the car turns over and an electronic stability system as well as an electronic brake force distribution that apportions braking power to the wheel that needs it most.
There is no firm data available to prove the Bentley’s crash safety though because it hasn’t been subjected to a Euro NCAP test.
The Continental GT coupé has a useful 370 litres of boot space but the extra space taken up by the convertible roof means the GTC makes do with a less impressive 235 litres. But as the reduced size of the rear seats makes this effectively a two-seat tourer for longer trips, you can use the space there for luggage too. The soft top means no overhead storage console but there’s still a cubby under the armrest and the soft top can be opened and closed at speeds up to 20mph – handy if the traffic lights turn green mid-roof cycle.
