I love the way this car handles. I came from a Golf MK4 2002 into a 1 series 2004 and the difference is amazing. I mainly use cruise control and notice between 60 - 85mpg on the highway which is fabulous.
The car is economical when you want and fast when it needs to be so it is definitely a great blend of both worlds. As the rear view mirror is relatively small I would recommend choosing one with the parking sensors added as these really help. Also, rear seat space is small in my 5 door model, so I can't even imagine what its like in the 3 door. I would definitely recommend avoiding the 3 door and going for the 5, as they look equally as good in my opinion and offer more leg room in the back.
How reliable do you find the car?
Bought the car from a lovely family in Kent who had it serviced regularly at the BMW they bought it from. Only a few bits of rust here and there especially on the sub frame because the car was near saltwater in scotland. slight rattle from rear right suspension which was a cheap fix. Asides that, one rear parking sensor had fallen inside the bumper, not a difficult fix. Asides that, the car is solid, reliable and a very good buy IF the previous owner looked after it. When buying these ensure they have a pretty good service history with a vast amount of receipts to show the work that has been done to them and they will treat you good.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
As my own BMW has parking sensors, xenon headlamps, automatic lights, automatic wipers, automatic climate control, CD changer, leather seats, heated seats, bluetooth, and courtesy puddle lights ( lights in the door handles that illuminate the ground ) With this vast amount of kit I definitely recommend reading the manual to the car in order to get the maximum experience from the car. There's plenty of electronical gubbins that these BMWs can be kitted with, so be sure to read your manual to get your moneys worth.About their car
