Summary
What does this car say about you?
That I like a good quality car that drives well and keeps it's value.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Most people like the car.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I'd go for the SE next time if I buy a BMW, softer suspension set up.
What are you likely to buy next?
BMW 3 series.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£9,500
When did you buy the car?
October 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
I bought from a car supermarket, the car was ex-fleet I believe. It was one of the cheapest in the country when I bought. I had to travel to buy but I felt as though I had a good deal.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
This is my second BMW. I like the way BMWs drive, the 1 series looks good and is fairly practical as a five door hatchback. Engine is strong performer with good fuel economy.
What was the dealer like?
Quite a clinical purchasing experience. No haggling, price was low, part ex was agreed in advance. Very straight forward but not enjoyable.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Great car to drive on twisty A and B roads. Much less so in town, over potholes and speed bumps and on the motorway. The suspension is hard and rather unforgiving.
What's it like to park?
Easy to park, sensors help, good turning circle.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
EGR Valve problems and Indicator/Cruise Control Stalk problems but all fixed under extended warranty. Also had problems with hands free but not bothered to look into this, just lived without it.
What's most practical about your car?
It's a hatchback, practical boot with fold down seats.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Aircon and Cruise Control are good. Also has some interesting quirky gadgets like a switch that pumps air into the bucket seats to make them more or less snug. And a button which you can press to de-mist the window with warm air when the car is at rest and engine is switched off.
