BMW 1-Series Hatchback (2011 - 2019) 116d Sport 5d Owner Review

Bought this as a stop gap car went my previous one went off lease and have ended up hanging on to it. Overall it is OK but grossly underpowered for the real world of motorway driving - accelerating uphill on a motorway from 50 mph is no fun. It is comfortable though and fuel economy is regularly around 52-53mpg despite having to thrash it to make decent progress. I'd buy another 1 series but would go for a more powerful engine and auto gearbox next time. Also, compared to cars you can buy now, the spec is pretty stingy, no digital radio, cruise control, satnav etc although the facelift versions appears to have addressed this.
