What does this car say about you?

We didn't buy it to make a statement but hopefully that we appreciate quality and style.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

We've had a few comments from the neighbours but most of our friends seem very impressed - especially those who have the earlier 1 series. They all think it looks good in red (even though I had my doubts when we ordered it).

Would you buy this car again and why?

Based on our experiences so far, we would buy another. However, a very favourable BMW finance deal was the deciding with this one.

Did you get a good deal and why?

We got a fantastic deal including a discount off the price, better trade in, free servicing and great finance. Plus we didn't need to haggle too hard. They seemed genuinely keen to have our business.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

To replace a Ford Focus that was the most unreliable car we have ever owned. Originally wanted an Audi but the salesperson's attitude put us right off. The quality of the BMW and the friendly, helpful sales approach had us reaching for the cheque book!

What was the dealer like?

Typically clean, modern and well stocked with a range of models and specs. Surprisingly friendly and welcoming (unlike the Audi dealer we visited earlier in the day).

What's it like to drive?

Far better than our previous car, a Ford Focus. Has a sports car style driving position and the lower powered diesel engine is still surprisingly punchy. It rides like a far bigger car, the brakes are strong and the steering is accurate and well weighted.

What's it like to park?

The rear pillars are quite thick and hamper visibility when looking over your shoulder. However we specified the driver comfort pack which includes parking sensors and these help a lot.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing.

What's most practical about your car?

Didn't buy it to be practical. However, being a 5 door makes it easy to get our two teenage children in and out. It should make a decent yet compact family car.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

I love the BMW I-drive system. I like the fact the handbook can be displayed on the screen as well as all kinds of info about the car.
