Poor driver's position: cramped cockpit which is awkward to climb into, almost zero rear view makes parking difficult, skittish handling seems very 'light' and unsettled on road, adjusting driver's seat height is very awkward (you have to take your weight off the seat). In general, BMW ergonomics is surprisingly rubbish. Engine has very short range within each gear, so lots of gearchanges needed.
On positive side: great MPG, good handling once you get used to it, reasonably 'quality' feel.
Conclusion: Not as good as my previous Golf 2.0 fsi, despite the BMW having numerous electronic twiddly bits which dont get used.
