BMW 1-Series Hatchback (2011 - 2019) 120d M Sport (03/15-) 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Brought the facelift 2015+ after owning the pervious model (2011-2015) for a year and have owned this model for the last 3 years without any issues. Firstly the jump to the facelift model was deffinetly worth it.... you get bluetooth music connection and satnav as standard compared to the previous model.
Pros - High quality materials on all the touch points on the car. Metal door handles, leather gear knob and extremely chunky leather steering wheel feels sporty LED headlights make a massive difference compared to halogen/xenon. They're brighter and whiter and less worry about bulbs popping. All the lights on the car are LED. The 120D engine is the highlight of the car. It gets me on average 52mpg and has plenty of torque you can be lazy with the gears. It is happy to idle around town no problem or munch up motorway miles comfortable. The M-Sport seat are the most comfortable seats with so much adjustability to fit you. The electric adjustable side bolsters help you stay in your seat when you're on a spirited drive tackling those corners. Standard speakers are very good with plenty of depth and bass. DAB radio as standard. Plenty of usable storage pockets around the cabin. Good boot space for luggage. BMW looks always age well.
Cons - For a 1 series the car is actually pretty big to park, the length of the bonnet is longer than you would think and car be tricky to park. Parking sensors are a must of on this car in my opinion. My previous model didn't have them and it was a pain to park as the car is bigger than you think and the body panel curves in the mirrors are deceiving. Although the interior is premium... it is borderline boring. Its very business like inside and not very exciting to look at and i'd expected it to look dated soon. I didn't have any issues with my car but there are recalls on these are for the EGR cooler. I had to book my car in at my local BMW dealership 3 times before they checked and replaced mine for free. It was just a hassle and found the BMW dealership difficult to deal with. TYRES! everyone knows BMW have run flat tyres but to have new tyres to fit my 18" wheels is £140 per wheel. Nearly £600 for a new set of staggered tyres seems extreme especially for a hatchback is too expensive in my opinion. Rear seats are only good for 2 people, The middle seat is too small.
These are my highlights of the good and bad after owning the car for 3 years. Overall I'm happy with the car and haven't had any issues. I hope you find this review helpful.
