Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 29 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

BMW dealers are one of the most expensive when it comes to servicing costs and you’ll soon be the petrol pump attendant’s best mate with this car. BMW claims it will return 29.4mpg – we returned 23.3 on average.
With power comes high emissions and although you’ll be on first-name terms with the staff at the local filling station you’ll not make too many friends at the Green Party. The 1M emits a planet-bashing 224g/km of CO2.
This is the first 1M but we expect it to be pretty much bulletproof. BMW has a good reputation and there is no reason why the 1M should be any different. However, keeping to the servicing intervals indicated by the onboard computer is essential so that all the parts remain reliable.
