In their own words

Having owned many larger BMWs I`m retired and looked for something smaller. Saw a 19000 mile 2 series "luxury" Grantour and bought it. The only good bit It drives beautifully and goes like stink but it has so many design flaws its dangerous! For a start You have to take your eyes off the road to operate the touch screen, or to adjust the tiny heater buttons, the fog light switches are hidden somewhere behing the steering wheel, the auto wipers are never working at the right speed for the rain and I tow a trailer and it will not phisically. permit me to reverse with the door open to see behind It has an oblong rear window why an oval rear view mirror you can only use a bit of and the dip button need fingers of steel to operate. . Other niggles like the appalling level of road noise spoil the fact that iit is a very quiet car, wind shrieks in through the door seals you cant pull the mirrors in in tight situations. It has buttons to drop the rea seats from behind but then you have to open the doors and nailbreakingly fidle with pull ribbons to get them back up again and wrestle the centre seat belt back in place. It has a multi function remote key (supposed to be keyless) which has buttons which instead of being sunken protrude so that when you sit down at someones house for dinner your trousers press the tailgate open button and unlock the car and you go outside to an open tailgate. Five buttons to work the cruise contro; My e class had one simple stalk. No dipstick- an oil low bell sounds and a light comes on, how much oil shall I put in miles from home on a dark night. I had to have the front of the car virtually removed to clean out the screenwasher bottle to clean it becuse it has a filter which gums up if the previous owner put anything but BMW screenwash in it. It has auto stop start which defaults to on so that every time you start it you have to remember to switch it off. It has an electric handbrake on or off no in between and with hill hold and auto pull away it tries to pull out in fromt of people and if you drive down a slope to a wall it will hold the car for you until you take your foot off the brake and then release it suddenly to roll forwards 6 feet. The suspension is so hard ant the tyres so thin its worse to drive than my tractor. The sat nav is the worst I have ever encountered I`m so fed up with unwanted detours that I use my tab with gmaps because I cant mirror it on the screen. Its a terrible shame whoever was responsible for these and a hundred more screrw ups didnt think harder about their silly Ideas. They have spoiled what I believe could be a great car.
