BMW 2-Series M2 (2016-2017) running costs and reliability
Miles per pound (mpp)
Fuel economy
Don’t buy a BMW M2 if you’re worried about running costs. It’s simply not about that. The combined fuel economy figure of 35.8mpg with the automatic gearbox or 33.2mpg with the manual will only be possible if you barely breathe on the throttle for the entire time you’re driving, and where’s the fun in that?
With a 52-litre fuel tank, we’d expect you’ll become pretty friendly with your local petrol station attendant too. Range is going to be sub-200 miles if you’re using the engine’s performance in any real capacity.
One engine and two gearboxes available means CO2 output is 185g/km for the automatic and 199g/km for the manual.Â
Nothing to worry about here. BMW has a long history of building reliable performance cars. Many of the important parts on the M2 have been tried and tested in other models with no issues reported.
