BMW 3-Series Convertible (1986 - 1993) 318i 2d Owner Review
In their own words
I bought "Boris" (Becker not Johnson!) the Baur in 1992 - he was the first car I'd ever bought just with the proceeds of music (my first royalty cheque!) and as such he has enormous sentimental value (I haven't made much since!) He had one previous owner and 52K on the clock. He was named by my eldest when she was 8 (Becca.. get it??) Since then I have been through two marriages, five children, two expensive divorces, and some serious health issues but Boris has always been there for me. He has taken three (or sometimes four) children down through the Mont Blanc Tunnel all the way down to the Amalfi Coast and back up via Rome and the South of France several times, and never missed a beat. He has been laden with musical equipment and driven up and down the country to pubs and clubs, and made it through snowdrifts to get me home. He has been clamped in Amsterdam and broken into in Antwerp. The roof design is brilliant - if you're driving with the targa top removed and it starts to rain, you don't get wet as long as you stay above 45mph! Apart from consumables, an alternator, a petrol tank, and a fusebox (and one new gearbox at 276K..) he has cost me very little, and has now travelled 293K miles. He's always a joy to drive, especially with the roof completely down, and he's become quite a head-turner in his old age! My 20 year old son has reserved him for when I go to the big Corniche in the sky, and is quite impatient... but I'm not planning to give him up any time soon.
