Summary
What does this car say about you?
It says I like the fun, open top experience without the mid-life crisis leitmotif that a Z4 would've brought me!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They think it's a head-turner without being too flash.
Would you buy this car again and why?
So far, yes I would.
What are you likely to buy next?
I would probably buy BMW again but maybe move up the range.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£21,000
When did you buy the car?
March 2014
Did you get a good deal and why?
It was an ok deal financially - slightly more flexible than most BMW dealers. I was very well looked after though, the salesman was great.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
The convertible hard top.
What was the dealer like?
Didn't play the salesman games quite so seriously as some. It's the main reason I bought there - I wouldn't buy from someone who insults my intelligence as I find the majority of salesmen do.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
I've had 3-series before so I knew I'd like it to drive. It is fine. I love auto and I test drove some autos for a while but went for the manual in the end because it just felt right.
What's it like to park?
Easy. Rear distance park control and the front is pretty easy to gauge. The doors are wide but they have a nice mid-opening position, and I like that the mirrors fold.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
They sold it to me with a split tyre, which was annoying given that they are supposed to do so many checks. But they replaced it - or rather I replaced it locally and they picked up the bill. An inconvenience but at least it got sorted.
What's most practical about your car?
I was looking at Z4s for a few months but at the last minute I decided the extra seats would be useful to me. I also like the MPG from the diesel engine - I do a lot of miles.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Cruise, without a doubt. It's not even a gadget to me, it's essential.
