BMW 3-Series Coupe 318i s 2d (1994/L) Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
-
Economy
Value
I took ages trying to find a low mileage one - well worth the search, take your time.
Costs
Had to replace the front wishbones and ball joints, but they were only £80 from BMW Brighton.
-
On the road
Driving
It's pretty slow bearing in mind I used to have an Impreza, but is nice and smooth and easy.
Performance
Pretty slow, but as mine looks like an M3 no 1 will dare try it.

Living with it
Reliability
Very reliable and will definately buy BMW again. You do get what you pay for.
Image
Still has the streotypes, but what the hell - it's a nice car.
Comfort
Bit stiff on the back roads, but on the M35 just sit back and enjoy 50mpg.

Security and Service
Security
Got a cat 1 is needed on modded ones, had mine almost nicked twice.
Service
My dad's a mechanic, so I get everything cheap but even for public buy from independants it's so much cheaper. BMW charge £90 an hour labour, a complete rip off. £100 to change the oil - I did it in ten minutes and set the lights back for £15.

Problems and Ownership

Solid as a rock. Just had to change the fan belt, which was a bit of a mission. Have done 74,000 miles.
Other
I can't stress how much to use independant mechanics - so much cheaper and just as good value.
