Economy
Value
Prices have dropped a lot due to the never E46 etc, can pick up a good 328i coupe with leather and all the gizmos for 5k these days if you keep your eye out, insurance is surprisingly cheap 700 fully comp, at 22, a 306xsi is more expensive to insure.
Costs
Averages 26mpg on the comp, hit a B road and it will drop to 15mpg if you give it loads, easy 30 mpg on motorways 20 quid usually gives me between 130 and 150 miles usually, tyres are getting cheaper if you go to a specialist about £80 each for Z rated

On the road
Driving
Very comfy on long journeys, feels very sturdy even though it is 8 years old
Performance
Serious side ways fun, had a 318is e36 and 325i e36, would say the 328i is best all round, and economy is better than 325i, smokes most things on the road, very sporty for its size good for 160mph, rev limiter in 5th!

Living with it
Reliability
Had over a year now, only problem was a rear axle bush, 90 quid to get replaced by specialist, use a B.M.W specialist for servicing, not worthpaying crazy money for servicing if its more than 5 or 6 years old
Image
Girls love them, not boy racer material and not boring material, the perfect mix, private plate and a nice set of 18inch split rims make it look double what it actually is
Comfort
5 way adjustable leather seats, supportive when driving hard, rear seats...well don't really care, i never sit in them.
