BMW 3-Series Coupe (1999 - 2006) 318 Ci Sport 2d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Plenty of room inside, very comfy, supportive seats. Enough poke from the engine to get by and not the slowest car in the world, all i would say is when there are problems they may be difficult and expensive to find and fix. The chassis very well balanced and keeps traction well under hard braking and agressive steering. The overall look of the vehicle is very good for its age and doesnt look out of place on todays roads, with a few minor mods it can be given a very very modern look (halo headlights or xenon headlight bulbs and led sidelight bulbs will give it a very modern look up front while a set of led number plate bulbs will give the rear end a more updated look too) the interior is a very nice place to be and everything is where you expect it to be. I would buy another one of these even in a few years time as i feel they will take a long time to become outdated, especially the facelift e46. The car always turns heads and gets attention even though its only a 318, but it does have the full m sport kit which looks awesome, everyone loves the way it looks and how it drives (when running right)
Overall i would recommend this car even with the problems its had as it is a very well built solid german car grate for a small family as the boot has plenty of room and access to the rear seats is good.
I would recommend shopping around and taking your time to find one as there are some bargains out there, look for one with a few minor problems as things like rocker cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket are cheapeasy fixes but may be advertised cheaper due to "oil leak" or "using oil"
How reliable do you find the car?
The car feels very solid and very well built, the engines are also bery well designed but technical and this makes them difficult to work on, my car currently is running on 3 cylinders but me and another mechanic friend cannot for the life of us figure it outDoes the car do everything you expected it to do?
My previous car was a 1998 honda civic set up for fast road/track use, as anyone knows the honda civic handles well from factory and brakes very well too, so it was a pleasent surprise when i drove the bmw, it handles very well and is very well balanced, braking is supurb, sharp and responsive, it doesnt quite have the get up and go of the civic but its more of a luxury car and you can feel this when drivingAbout their car
