  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

With a private plate the car looks newer than it is, and still looks up to date, modern and expensive.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Generally good feedback. Comments about it looking posh, and also the speed. Everyone has difficulty getting out of he back seats, although say its a nice place to sit.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Probably, but probably in 335i or 320d form, depending on how rich I feel at the time.

What are you likely to buy next?

I want luxury but not a German or Japanese car, so probably a Jaguar. Current model XF and XJ are at the top of my list.

    November 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

Not the best deal, not very good at haggling.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Just like BMW, owned a few others in the past.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great drivers car, positive steering, lots of grip around corners and good acceleration in any gear. The ride on pot-holed and worn roads it poor. You can feel all the bumps through the suspension and steering. Changed the tires from run flats to normal which has helped the ride and stopped the bad tram lining on the motorway. I have had the current tyres on the car for 19k and are all wearing evenly with many miles left on them. With 115000 miles now on the clock, the car still feels new, with only minor wear to the steering wheel and gear stick. If driving like an old woman, 38MPG is the best I have managed, with mainly motorway driving at 60MPH. If driven like it's supposed to be (foot the floor at any opportunity), 26MPG is more realistic.

    What's it like to park?

Parking as never been an issue for me, but the car has a reasonable turning circle, and rear parking sensors are handy Visibility is not great but acceptable.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Engine warning light and trip to dealer. BMW will replace fuel injectors (free of charge) because of a 'known issue', but insist its not a recall. Front washer jets get stuck out, automatic seatbelt arms fail to pass seatbelt on both sides, but common E92 issues. Rear suspension shocks replaced @ 90k Gear changes into 2nd getting difficult, forums suggest this is normal for an E92.

What's most practical about your car?

Although practicality was not at the top of my list then buying it, the boot is large, although being a coupe, the gap to get items in is not that big. Rear seats fold down which is very handy.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The car only has standard M Sport accessories, and the best being cruise control and rear parking sensors.
