Summary
What does this car say about you?
In all honesty I think most people just go ohh look nice BMW. But for people who love cars and driving or like BMW's the twin exhausts give away that your not driving a rep-mobile and you enjoy the experience of driving.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Love it. They liked the old one in fairness.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Absolutely. As the MPG isn't catastrophic, the N52 a reliable lump, and with rising diesel costs, it's very hard to justify the higher running costs of a diesel.
What are you likely to buy next?
I probably will wait till this lovely thing dies.....then replace it with whatever is the eqivalent at the time....

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£15,000
When did you buy the car?
December 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes. For the level of spec on the car, and the condition/mileage the car had the price was very good.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I wanted to upgrade from the 320i SE coupe after having driven an older model 6 cylinder BMW.
What was the dealer like?
Excellent as always, this is the second car I have bought from the same dealer, and salesman in Blackburn and i would go there again.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Excellent. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Be it a motorway slog, quick trip to the shops or a run along a nice A road. The engine is outstanding, the previous 2 litre car I drove was good but this is a completely different league, the chassis was very obviously designed for this engine. The N52 that is fitted in my car is excellent, with fantastic torque a beautiful sound and honestly brutal performance, all overtakes become a non-event as the car's in-gear acceleration in 3rd or 4th is incredible. With the engine feeling effortless at a 70mph cruise. The cruise itself is easy with cruise control and most effort is removed from driving this car with the optional active head lights and wipers taking away another decision.
What's it like to park?
Continued from Drive: On an A or B road run the car is great never close to it's limit so extremely safe to make some nice progress is. The swap from RFT's to Goodyear Eagle F1's was ideal and transformed the one weak aspect of the car in original form. The DTC is always there but not intrusive and the car as already stated is a pleasure to drive. Parking : Non event with iDrive and the dippy nearside mirror.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
No
What's most practical about your car?
The useable boot, and realistically very economical 33-35 mpg on a motorway cruise.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The I drive system is excellent, and a worth while upgrade from my previous non-iDrive car. My favourite "upgrade" was swapping the 19" alloys for the non runflatted 18" OEM wheels off my previous car, as with all BMW's the non RFT tyre transforms the ride.
