BMW 3-Series M3 (2007 - 2013) M3 Coupe (2010) 2d DCT Owner Review

In their own words
Great car overall but not exciting to drive - not in DCT form anyway. Handling superb, great ride, lovely v8 sound, comfortable seats, lots of boot space.
The customer service via BMW assist and the dealership was superb, best I've had. It's such a shame that the car didn't seem all that quick. Now - I'm talking low down acceleration - top end the car is a lunatic - easily 170+ mph, BUT when do you get to use that on a UK road practically!?
Came from a 400bhp Subaru Impreza which was savage and could overtake quick, but was looking for something more refined - turned out the M3 was too refined and unexciting - hence chopping it in for a Mk3 Focus RS and Mountune pack next month. Might have one again in a few years...
How reliable do you find the car?
Blocked washer jets and DCT gearbox faults within first month of ownership. Car juddered under acceleration, selected wrong gear or worse paused when accelerating hard meaning it was almost dangerous to drive. Manifold pressure sensor failed after 6 months. Wonderful customer service but seriously unimpressed for a 17k car only 3 years old.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Looks nice, interior is ok but some plastics look cheap compared to Audi. Handling - best car I've owned hands down. EDC ride is superb as well. Not as good as an M4 but still good. Power delivery is poor; lacks torque and the DCT gearbox in my opinion makes the driving experience detached. The traction control also kicks in too much for me even in MDM mode, but I'm not sure I trust it enough to drive it off all the time.About their car
