Summary
What does this car say about you?
Gets admiring looks everywhere, from boy-racers to more seasoned older drivers. Still a status symbol, no matter what some people say (i.e. those who can't afford one!). The respectable persons fast car!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Not met anyone who doesn't like it. Neighbours love it, i had to take a few of them for a drive in it! My family like it, particularly my father who isn't a car lover!
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes! I think next time i'd probably get a few more options put on it, but generally comes well equipped as standard. Does everything well, is fast, comfortable, stylish and says a lot about who you are.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably another one, although the new Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo also appeals. Would love a DB9, but not practical when you want to take passengers.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£59,000
When did you buy the car?
April 2008
Did you get a good deal and why?
Had a good deal on the car, plus a few freebie accessories and extras thrown in, which may have been down to the fact it was the fourth BMW i'd bought from this dealer.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Birthday treat, plus i'd wanted to try one for ages. Glad i did, as after ten minutes in the car i loved it.
What was the dealer like?
Very good, almost perfect. Deal went through smoothly, but delivery of the car was delayed a few times due to "transport issues"

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Sublime, it does all you ask of it and still gives more. Fast, very fast. Easy to drive quickly, with a feeling of being in total control at all times. Just don't turn the traction control off, or you'll have a nutcase on your hands!
What's it like to park?
With parking sensors front and rear, it's a dream to park, very easy. Bonnet slopes away quickly, so very deceptive as to how close you are to a prang. Don't skimp, buy it with front and rear sensors, trust me!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
EDC (electronic damper control) went wrong after a week, but then seemed to fix itself. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it annoyingly enough, after spending two days in their workshop. Satnav is insane, not as good as a TomTom or similar. Eats tyres no matter how you drive, and standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres are hard to get hold of and tyre fitters know this, and price accordingly, i.e. expensive! Alternatives lack grip.
What's most practical about your car?
useable in traffic at low speeds, very civilized when you want it to be, fair amount of room in the back, boot decent size, very comfortable and good long distance GT car.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The "M" button.....totally programmable, turns it into a snarling lunatic and eats anything on the road.
