It is a 3.2-litre straight six gem which delivers serious fire-power whenever you need it yet will happily trundle around in top gear when you’re attempting to be economical – truly one of the great engines. A sequential clutchless manual gearbox is an option. Roof down you can savour the characterful engine note all the more…
Feels a little firm at slower speeds but the pay-off is fantastic handling that is both balanced and responsive. All controls offer plenty of feedback. Tackle a series of bends with inch-perfect precision or slide like a lunatic – ultimately the bodyshell is less rigid than the coupe making it a little less composed on rougher roads you’d need to be wringing neck to really notice it.
