BMW 3-Series M3 Coupe Evolution Sequential 2d (1998/S) Owner Review

Economy
Value
The M3 is surely the most amazing performance vehicle you can buy for the money.
Costs
A new gearbox at just 15,000 miles, but at 3 years old, cost in excess of £5,000. BMW paid half the parts, but it was still a painful experience with no explanation as to what went wrong (SMG refused to engage reverse).

On the road
Driving
What? 3 stars?! Yes, I'm afraid so... I'm just not a good enough driver to have 321bhp through the back wheels and no traction control!! Awesome grip in the dry. Lets go very suddenly though.
Performance
Zooooooooommmm!

Living with it
Reliability
Apart from the gearbox debacle, this car has been completely faultless.
Image
Aging a bit now, and the Boy Racer image tends to bring out the worst in other drivers!!
Comfort
I'm 6'7" tall, so I'm not exactly the best person to judge this. Adequate headroom, really comfy seats, but thank God I don't have a clutch pedal!!

Security and Service
Security
No basis on which to comment really. I haven't lost it yet.
Service
I've been driving BMWs for around 5 years now and the service is as patchy in places as for any other brand. Find a good dealer, even if it's not your local one, and stick to them.
