Economy
Value
Good value these days if you find a good one.
Costs
Costly on petrol, parts can be expensive.

On the road
Driving
Excellent drive. Poor rear grip in wet.
Performance
Quick enough off the mark. Good midrange power and reasonable top speed.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Never missed a beat! Typical German engineering.
Image
It's a Black BMW!
Comfort
Very comfy, but long journeys make my back hurt.
-
Security and Service
Security
Seems ok. It stayed with me all the time, no alarm or immobilser but had deadlocks.
Service
Never had a BMW service, always used specialists.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Last person who changed the Cambelt did not change the idler pulleys and the bearing disintegrated one day (very nasty rattling!)
Other
Sunroof leaks. No-one can work out where, so the headlining fills with water and pours out of the interior lights as you pull away. Consequently the rear seat has rotted on both sides - not very nice!
