Economy
Value
You're paying for the badge. There are cheaper cars that offer better value (eg Passat, Mondeo etc).
Costs
Not that expensive to run unless you go to BMW stealer! Use a good independent garage.

On the road
Driving
Comfy smooth cruiser. Secure handling, not enough power to come anywhere near testing the car's limits. Not very inspiring, but eats motorway miles fairly effortlessly (particularly relaxed at speed considering its just a 1.8 engine.
Performance
It's ok for everyday driving, but no sportscar.

Living with it
Reliability
No major problems in 6 years.
Image
BMW image questionable for some. Not that exclusive either.
Comfort
Good comfortable ride. Easy to get comfortable in front seats, rear a bit tight on legroom with the front seats back.

Security and Service
Security
Pretty secure, particularly with deadlocks option.
Service
Expensive servicing rates. 3-week mixup resetting a spurious ECU fault code (they were downloading the wrong program!)
