Summary
What does this car say about you?
I have subtly modified the car, sports exhaust, clear headlights etc., nothing too heavy. So hopefully when the car rolls up clean with a few personal touches, its says here is a guy who cares and also enjoys his driving experience.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
My friends like it, reservedly, I do get the hint of the green eyed monster sometimes. My family hate it as they cannot use it to go on holiday, which is fine bu me, keeps the miles off! My neighbours hate it as they are (very) proud Vectra owners and loathe anything else, even my previous Fords!
Would you buy this car again and why?
I wouldn't buy this car again, for the simple reason is that this car was my introduction to BMW and for my next car, I would like something younger from the BMW range.
What are you likely to buy next?
I have recently driven a 1 series as a courtesy car and loved it, the 1.6 is a bit underpowered though. I hanker after a 3yr old 6cyl 3 series, which will be my next car.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£4,000
When did you buy the car?
January 2006
Did you get a good deal and why?
I paid slightly more for my car as it was over 100k miles when bought. However, due to its cleanliness and the service history, I thought the deal was fair. I traded in my '2001 Y' Mondeo GhiaX, which was developing faults everywhere, and I wasn't willing to replace the wheel bearings!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Wanted the look and feel of BMW quality.
What was the dealer like?
The dealer lives 20 doors away on the same street, so he's polite and courteous to keep the peace!! But I've bought cars from him before and I know he sells no crap.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Feels at home when being driven hard (and fast towards another service!). I love its willingness to go and the lack of body roll inspired confidence.
What's it like to park?
All parking spaces in this country are too small for any car (anyone who's been to the USA knows what I mean). But people who moan about parking (parallel) should learn to drive!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
The wiring loom to the passenger seatbelt pretensioner was replaced a few weeks ago by BMW, the airbag warning light informed me of this fault.
What's most practical about your car?
Nothing really. The boot isn't too small which helps a little with practicality!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
I likes the automatic climate control, its a nice touch.
