Summary
What does this car say about you?
Someone who appreciates quality and reliability and doesn't spend money unecessarily.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Its about time I changed it! but like its owner there are maybe a few cosmetic blemishes these days but its still a good performer.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I would happily buy this car again if a new version could be found- the more modern BMW 3 series is very nice but is less of a driving sensation- I have considered spending some money on my existing car to make it new again although this won't go down well with the girlfriend.
What are you likely to buy next?
BMW 530 sport.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£15,500
When did you buy the car?
February 1997
Did you get a good deal and why?
I traded in a 1996 2.0 mondeo with 30,000 miles on the clock for an older Bmw with 40,000 miles on the clock plus an extra £8000 towards the cost, on the face of it not a great deal but back then prices were falling off Mondeos because of massive fleet sales.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
It had all the toys and was (in 1997) a top choice.
What was the dealer like?
Pretty good- no high pressure sales- and was recommended by other customers.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Fantastic to drive - even now after the high mileage 0-60 in 7 seconds but importantly really good brakes with ABS and traction control.
What's it like to park?
Good because of the good turning circle and parking sensors.
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
In the 16 years of ownership no faults whatsever new clutch fitted last year at 132000 miles. I find the car comfortable to drive and can happily do a two hundred mile trip and enjoy the drive.
What's most practical about your car?
Great turning circle, four doors.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Rear parking sensors- not a gimmick- really useful and the harmon kardon speakers- good sounds.
