Summary
What does this car say about you?
Solid and dependable.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They think it's a classy looking car. Mine is nearly 10 years old but in exceptional condition and still looks near new. Hold it's looks with current cars.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I would buy this car again though possibly with a bigger engine and more extras. Otherwise I'm very happy with it as the build quality is excellent and the car is as solid as a rock. Problem free so far.
What are you likely to buy next?
Another BMW, either a facelift E46 or E90.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£5,500
When did you buy the car?
November 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
I bought the car for £5500 on a private sale through AutoTrader. The car had 2 previous owners who were an elderly lady and then her daughter. The car had been garaged for 3 years and had done only 39k, considering it was 8 years old when I bought it, it was an outstanding deal.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I bought this car as I required something reliable and comfortable for commuting as I live 20 miles from my place of work.
What was the dealer like?
My particular private seller was excellent.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Comfortable to drive and very responsive. Plenty of power for motorway journeys, and power is low down on the revs. I originally wanted a 323 which would offer more performance but it's not bad for a 1.9 petrol engine.
What's it like to park?
Tricky to reverse park as my car does not have parking sensors fitted and the boot isn't visible when reversing. Otherwise it's all straightforward.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Only wear and tear. In the last year I have replaced the standard filter with a K&N long life filter and had to change the high beam bulbs once they died. Standard stuff.
What's most practical about your car?
Plenty of room in the cabin. My model is completely standard and it's still a joy to drive. Controls and dash nicely laid out.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
None stand out in particular, the original stereo was replaced with a Sony which was a better option, although the original stereo is more than adequate for normal use.
