BMW 3-Series Saloon (2005 - 2011) 320d SE 4d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Bought the car with 96000 miles on the clock. It was a 1 owner from new car with full service history. I always liked beemers for the build quality and driving sensation. Great looking car that even in 2017 doesnt look dated. Easy to park thanks to the rear sensors, visibilty is great and the steering lock is incredible. The power delivery is linear and torque is always there, even at speed while in 6th gear the torque is there. In other words it pulls like a train. Fuel economy leaves alot to be desired. I guess the power is a trade off for good economy. I average about 31-34 mpg on a 2 hour all motorway trip and i would be doing 80mph set with cruise control. On the twisty roads i average alot less. However i will say absolutly nothing drives like a bmw, so much fun even for a diesel car, like you can be brave in the corners and the nose points where you want it to. Great car for the smiles per gallon factor. Now lets get down to the bad stuff, at around the 145000 miles mark the car lost all power. It took 3 different garages and over 2500 pound later to figure out what the issue was. Seemingly i got all the major bmw issues at the same time. Turbo and actuator changed, swirl flaps deleted, egr valve replaced twice, map sensor and air flow meter changed. Back arms and top links also went but that is normal wear and tear to me. So far she is running great again but as they say, once beemers start giving trouble then they always will.
How reliable do you find the car?
Reliable while the mileage is low. But after enough road has been done then the maintainence costs go upDoes the car do everything you expected it to do?
It got me from A to B just as i hoped it would. What more do we need cars to do.About their car
