In their own words

My first ever BMW in 40 years of driving and it's going to take some beating when I replace it. Being the xDrive it has amazing grip and I got a deal on a set of alloys with winter tyres when I bought the car so winter driving is a pleasure. Obviously any fool can get into trouble if they push their car beyond their own limits. It's comfortable, quiet (unless you floor the accelerator), and surprisingly good on fuel. 8 speed auto box is, despite the £1500 option price, the one I'd recommend, it's smooth and sometimes hard to tell when gear changes happen. I wish I’d gone for the split folding seats option to give a bit more versatility (£300) but as I also own a hatchback I didn't think it necessary, also paying £700 for xenon headlights, my car has halogen lights and I think they are not the best, my Volvo has halogen lights but they are much brighter than the BMW. I wouldn’t recommend 19inch alloys as a demonstrator I drove had them and I thought the car didn't ride as smooth and there was more road noise. The iDrive system, considered to be one of the best systems around according to the motoring press, is very easy to use once you've mastered the basics. The only thing the car misses out on is a heated front screen, don't know if BMW plan to introduce one but if they did it would, for me, make this car the perfect car. And if they repositioned the heated seat buttons (obscured by the steering wheel).
