In their own words

Unlike the rear wheel drive version, that I owned before, my xDrive is fantastic to drive in slippery conditions. I chose the adaptive suspension option because BMW had softened the ride of the 3 series and this was unacceptable to my wife and I but the extra fitment has been amazing. I am currently looking for a replacement for my current car but have been disappointed to find that despite BMW stating that their chassis had been developed to work with run flat tyres that they are now an extra. To make things worse, they are not available on the SE version (which my current car is) and the option has to be purchase with other extras as a pack. The same applies to the adaptive suspension and if I want it I will have to move up two models to the M sport which will give me a lot of things that I do not want. I feel I am being blackmailed into spending more money with BMW if I want these extras which offer safety as well as convenience, just like four wheel drive, and cannot be ordered on the basic model - BMW should be ashamed of themselves putting profit before drivers' safety

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

I ordered a CD changer for my car but was informed, after doing so, that this was a discontinued item. My wife bought me an iPod Nano as an alternative but it was very difficult and frustrating and, as it turned out, expensive to make it operational - a friend of mine had a brand new Volvo and it worked perfectly. BMW had a connecting lead but it did not work with their latest model/latest iPod. Eventually, they were able to supply me with their update but this wasn't at all satisfactory. Eventually, and much later, they did produce on that works. Secondly, I had to replace my keys (no fault of BMW) but there were no instructions on how to set them up for use and staff at my local dealership didn't have a clue on how to do this; in fact they misinformed me and told me that I must have a faulty battery as the connection wasn't working. I eventually did the job by watching somebody else doing it on You Tube - this was very poor support especialyl as two new keys cost over £500
