Summary
What does this car say about you?
Shared with wife, docile for her, boy racer for me but looks like an ordinary saloon albeit a good looking one. Basically, is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Out accelerates my Mercedes 350 SLK !
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They all love it !
Would you buy this car again and why?
Almost certainly as it is , in my opinion, near automotive perfection. The only downsides are that the diesel engine can sometimes be a little noisy but not at speed. Also, with any BMW pay extra for electric seats. The manual set up is most impractical.
What are you likely to buy next?
Replacement for the SLK, so probably a 2 seater convertible.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, attended a special discount weekend and haggled hard. Eventually got over £4k off on a brand new model which had npot even arrive i the UK at that time.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
4 wheel drive coupled with high performance (5.3 secs 0-62 mph) and good fuel economy from diesel engine and superb drive-ability of the 3 series.
What was the dealer like?
Excellent, Paul Smitham at BMW Milton Keynes ( now at BMW Cambridge ).

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Brilliant !. Have owned three Mercs, three Jags and a 2000 BMW 3 series and have never driven a more driver friendly and comfortable car which can transform itself from docile to a near beast at the push of a button ( ECO PRO to SPORTS + ).
What's it like to park?
Has Park assist option so will parallel park itself. All you have to do is control the throttle and watch the rear view camera. Amazing technology and it works !

No.
What's most practical about your car?
4 wheel drive on a slippery, high performance saloon rather than on a brick !
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Self parking, internet access, adaptive suspension, eco pro to sports mode settings, superb satnav and multimedia system.
