BMW 3-Series Touring 325i 5d Auto (1990/G) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Great basic car for the money - can be a bit sparsely equipped.
Costs
High (Group 16) Insurance, very thirsty in town, even at independent garages the costs can mount up.
-
On the road
Driving
Initially unnerving in wet, but handles beautifully - very taut and responsive on standard sports suspension. Steering can be too light at speed.
Performance
Very quick and smooth - sounds fantastic. Non-switchable box has odd change points.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Always something going wrong - has cost a fortune to put right, due to previous owners neglect, and still not finished! Buy the best you can, or be warned!
Image
Still a real BMW, the touring is regarded well by those in the know - even get the odd smile and wave from other converts!
Comfort
Very hard ride - bad roads make it even worse. Very cramped - I'm 6""5, so passengers get a raw deal - beige cloth interior feels low rent.

Security and Service
Security
No problems so far - has (Aftermarket) Thatcham Immobiliser and Alarm.
Service
Dealers good but very expensive - find a REPUTABLE specialist - there are many poor ones about.
