Summary
What does this car say about you?
Looking for a cheap car to run, but still want to enjoy driving and have a reasonable amount of boot space.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Nice looking, well equipped car.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. Although it claimed 57mpg combined, I was lucky to get 50 on a combined cycle (I drive very gently). Small boot for an estate car. It did feel like a try-hard car, i.e. people only buy it because they can't afford a better car...
What are you likely to buy next?
Volvo XC70. Had to sell an XC90 to buy the BMW on the grounds of running costs - unfortunately a mistake in retrospect!

Independent
Did you buy this car new?

What price did you pay?
£13,700
When did you buy the car?
December 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
Good deal as the car had lots of extras above the SE specification.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Looking for a cheap car to run.
What was the dealer like?
Superb - The CarShop. No hassle, honest transaction.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Good driving experience. Corners well, not too uncomfortable on back roads with the bumps. Only complaint would be the wind noise - this is one of the worst cars I've had for wind noise.
What's it like to park?
Very easy, although low profile tyres make it a little tricky with parallel parking next to high curbs.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Handbrake started rubbing when cornering and the clutch has high-spots meaning it judders on pull-off.
What's most practical about your car?
Fuel economy.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Heated seats - very quick to heat up / Panoramic sunroof - feels like a soft-top!
