In their own words
First ‘luxury performance’ car I have had from new. Test drove several variants of Audi A4, A5, BMW 4 Series before choosing the 430D. Niggles Parking. Only one mirror, (passenger side) adjusts automatically to aid parking. When approaching a parking space you have to press the front sensor button to activate it unless you have reversed first. For example, driving onto my drive and up to the wall, if I don’t activate it manually, the front sensor will not activate. No rear windscreen wiper. The auto headlight dip option is a little sluggish. Interior, Not that impressed with the steering wheel or the indicator stalks which both feel more budget than they should. The doors are big and getting out in a tight space is awkward. Good Stuff Practicality. Front seats are lovely. The boot is big. Got the family Christmas tree in it with the rear seats down. Music connectivity. Great Stuff Engine and performance. In real terms it has more poke than you are likely to need on UK roads. Having said that, it is great to have it. Take off from the lights by pressing the gas down 50% in Comfort Mode and you accelerate faster and more smoothly than most others around you. Middle lane on the motorway at 70, kick it down and the only thing that limits your speed are your cojones. Lovely. Can’t tell you what the wife said but not even Clarkson could use it! Lights. Pointless gadgets. Auto stop start is annoying. Seatbelt assist moves belts forward but feels flimsy. Great gadgets The drivers profile changes the seat setup, the wing mirrors and even your hifi settings depending on you selecting the driver. Assumes the driver based on the key used. I have my setup, the wife has hers. I get in and select my profile and all the above adjusts to suit my preferences. Be careful though. If the wife uses your profile she will hear how loud you have to music turned up! Summary Sounds like I am not impressed with the car. Not true. I love this car. The 420 did not seem rapid enough. Manual gearbox was generally critised, as was the smaller petrol engines. I went for the 430D auto and think this was a good call. Still haven’t felt the need to put it in Sports mode yet. Says it all about the drive.
