Smooth 8 speed gearbox, effortless power, spacious with a real luxury feel and reasonable mpg at 38. However, there are not many BMW specialists out there and the main dealers are very expensive. There is a constant feeling that another big bill is around the corner. I have never had a BMW before and will not buy one again. (I have had a couple of E-class Mercs that were cheaper to run, more reliable and easier to find mechanics who will confidently fix them.)
How reliable do you find the car?
Rear suspension compressor and relay failed in the first week of ownership (cost £1500 at a BMW main dealer to fix it). Both rear alloy wheels needed replacing at a cost of £800 each. Finally the panoramic sunroof broke at a cost of £4500 to fix.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Lots of nice features but too expensive to fix when things go wrong - which they do regularly.
