In their own words

Has cost a small fortune to run which is not outweighed by the lovely interior and spaciousness. I have never had a BMW before and will never buy one again! It is not high mileage and has not had a hard life yet issues arise regularly and are always expensive to resolve. MPG reasonably good (38) but insurance expensive. It is a very large car and whilst the parking sensors are good a camera should really be standard on a car of this size and cost. I have driven for 37 years and this is the most disappointing car I have ever owned. I bought it with high expectations which were quickly dashed. [Had an E-class Merc before this car which was cheaper to run and much more reliable, despite being higher mileage.]

How reliable do you find the car?

The electronic ride height control (rear suspension air compressor and relay) failed immediately after purchase - on the way home - and cost £1500 at a BMW dealer to fix it. I have had to replace both rear wheels at £800 each; the 20inch alloy wheels seem prone to breaking. Finally the panoramic sunroof failed after 18 months ownership which was going to cost £4500 to fix so I sold it.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Not as comfortable as it should be - 20 inch wheels with run flat tyres on an M Sport suspension really don't help.
