BMW 5-Series M5 (2011 - 2016) M5 4d DCT Owner Review

In their own words
The car doesn't really suprise you with the obvious stuff. Its very, very fast and handles very well. What does suprise is that its also very comfortable, its capable of 28+ mpg and the tyres etc all last as long as any other normal car.
Its not as roomy as you might expect inside, I suspect those large front seats chew into space, but the boot is huge and its a true 5 adult seat car. As an M5 the basic specification you should expect is very high but there are some extremely nice options (which were originally very pricey) to try and source.
The car is a collection of extremely expensive parts. if you plan to buy one then you should aim to have a comprehensive view of how the car has been treated over the previous years. Its possible to do with close examination of dealer records. If it was been used very heavily then you could be on the receiving end of enormous bills. Maintaining the BMW warranty is something worth careful consideration. If it has been used lightly then it is over engineered and you might expect exceptionally low costs, including consumables. To give this perspective, its possible to get 30+mpg but then seconds later reduce this to 5mpg. This gives an idea of the wide spectrum of cost you might expect running an F10.
Is it worth it? Its a superb car to drive but 550bhp has limited use day to day. You are paying quite a premium for the extra, but this isn't a 5 series with all the extras, it comes together as a virtually separate model in the range. The exhaust/engine note is rubbish. It sounds like a blender.
