BMW 5-Series Saloon 525i 4d (1994/L) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
More expensive than some. On the whole, very good.
Costs
Not too hard on the wallet if properly maintained.
-
On the road
Driving
Good driver's car. Rear wheel drive. Well weighted chassis.
Performance
Good compromise between performance and economy.
-
Living with it
Reliability
This is my second 5. The last one I sold had 180k miles on the clock and never failed an MOT! Watch the suspension though at around 110k miles - it starts getting tired.
Image
Lots of newer BMWs about. Dated looks. Avoid 'bad boy' cars and chromed wheel arches etc!!
Comfort
Interior wears well. Tighter room in the back for adults.
-
Security and Service
Security
Get it alarmed. Sport bodykit attracts extra attention.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Other
Susupension/shocks after 100k miles. This is a big car that corners well, but will wear ball joints etc.
