BMW 5-Series Touring 520i SE 5d Auto (1994/M) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Great value. Still worth a few quid after the finance is paid.
Costs
Comparable parts costs to Ford, Renault, Vauxhall, etc. Heavier on petrol than manual round town (22mpg), but better on motorway (35mpg).
-
On the road
Driving
Not as good as the manual version.
Performance
Slow off the mark, but using the automatic kickdown this car can fly.
-
Living with it
Reliability
No problems. This is my 2nd 520i SE Touring, bought it after writing off the 1st one. (see non-auto reviews).
Image
Touring still has a family image. Saloon not so good.
Comfort
Ultra comfortable. Auto box is great in traffic jams or on the motorway.

Security and Service

Standard immobiliser, Central deadlocks.
Service
Henry Bros Glasgow very helpful with parts and recovery of written off 520.
