BMW 5-Series Touring 520i SE 5d (1995/M) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Bought for half the book price at an auction with a genuine 86,000 miles and BMW service history to 71,000 miles.
Costs
Have sourced a few routine parts which have turned out to be on a par with, or less than, my previous Renault.

On the road
Driving
An excellent drive for a massive car. Have found it a bit light at the front when pushed hard on cornering.
Performance
The 2-litre engine needs a bit of encouragement from 0, but midrange acceleration is pretty good.

Living with it
Reliability
I have bought a new battery (£60) and for its MOT, needed 2 new front discs. No problems.
Image
I've taken a bit of a ribbing from some of my younger mates about becoming a drug dealer, but the older people in know are still impressed by the badge.
Comfort
Bags of room and comfort for my missus and me and no complaints from the 2-year-old in the back.

Security and Service
Security
Hopefully I'll never need to know how good the security is, but with a standard alarm and immobiliser it can't be that bad.
Service
Haven't had to deal with a manufacturer yet. Any work or advice is received from my friendly local garage.

No noticeable problems, although I'm going to get a rolling road tune up which will let me know.
Other
