Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£40,000
When did you buy the car?
January 2014
Did you get a good deal and why?
Got money knocked off the car and they offered a good trade-in price on my old car.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Looked at the competitors and liked the 5 Series the most. Great interior and the car I picked had a lot of options fitted; in particular the head-up display with is brilliant.
What was the dealer like?
On the first visit the garage was very busy and nobody seemed to want to speak to us. However, on the second visit they were much quieter and we found the salesman to be good. The dealership itself could probably have done with a refit as it was looking a little worn for BMW.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Great car to drive... power on tap when you need it. Gearbox is extremely smooth and responsive. Ride can be a little on the harsh side on a bad road, but generally I have no complaints. Drove to the South of France and back without any aches or pains. Driven over 15,000 miles in it now and averaging a calculated 39mpg.
What's it like to park?
With sensors front and rear, and a rear camera it's very easy to park. Although it's sheer size makes you pick your spaces more wisely.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Had a creak/rattle noise coming from the driver's seat which was investigated and found to be a broken seat base which was replaced under warranty. Other than that, everything has been perfect.
What's most practical about your car?
Huge boot, lots of power, good fuel economy... all makes for a practical package.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Definitely the head-up display.
