In their own words

I have owned an Alfa Romeo. It never failed me. However, due to a death in the family, I felt I wanted a car I trusted. Bought a two year old Audi A6. Broke down 6 times due to the same issue with the gearbox. They kept charging me a hundred quid, telling me they’d reset the software and was fine. Until finally they figured out it was the gearbox ECU. They only found the source of the fault after the warranty had expired and wouldn’t have it so I had to cough up £1600. Promised I would never own another Audi. So bought this. I should have stuck with the Audi. Within it’s first 3 years, its needed a new dashboard as the one it had was creaking, banging and seemed to be falling out. It needed a new windscreen which BMW sorted but they did it on the cheap with non genuine parts so the sensors didn’t work. Shocking. The suspension has failed twice now. Twice. It’s looking likely to be well over a grand. Not covered under warranty and I only had it fixed a year ago. Will never buy a BMW again. Ever.

How reliable do you find the car?

Most unreliable, expensive piece of junk I have ever had the misfortune of owning. Had an Audi before this. Equally problematic. Had terrible customer service regarding the gearbox failing (under warranty) but they only established the recurring fault (a week after warranty had expired). Charged £1600. Swore I’d never own an Audi again. So went to BMW. Has been ten times worse. Suspension has completely failed twice (each time over a grand). Twice. TWICE. Has needed a new windscreen as BMW delivered it with a crack and the replaced it with a cheap windscreen that wasn’t compatible with the sensors. Had to pay to sort that. Had to have a new wheel as one split after driving over a tiny bump. Had to have a whole new dashboard due to the creaky one sounding like it was falling out. Air conditioning in the rear doesn’t work anymore. I’ve owned an Alfa. Was genuinely so many times more reliable than this over priced pile of junk. DO NOT BUY A BMW. Ever.
