Summary
What does this car say about you?
Nothing, it's a car.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
It's nice enough, but it's still only a car!
Would you buy this car again and why?
Absolutely not. BMW say they build the ultimate driving machine, but not in my experience. It seems harsh as the car is comfortable, economical (for it's size), smart looking, but it's so dull to drive that I'm never disappointed when I get to my destination (which wasn't the case with my previous XKR).
What are you likely to buy next?
Not a BMW!

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£15,000
When did you buy the car?
January 2014
Did you get a good deal and why?
Seemed like a pretty good deal, probably because the guys were independents who took a genuine interest in the cars they were selling.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Needed a replacement vehicle.
What was the dealer like?
Very helpful and professional.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
I hate to say this but bland, soulless, uninspiring - take your pick! The car could be so much more, but the BMW engineers have done everything possible to remove feedback and driver input. They must design the car for 6 stone weaklings given the lack of steering feedback, and if you switch to Sport mode the gear changes are like those made by a learner driver and the car won't go into top gear in auto mode - how stupid is that.
What's it like to park?
Reasonable enough, but the parking assistance is a waste of time - that's what mirrors are for!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Initially had flooding in the rear foot wells due to the common problem of blocked vents, but other than that nothing major.
What's most practical about your car?
It's a 2+2 so hardly what you'd call practical, but the boot is a decent size.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Why do manufacturers insist on loading cars with gadgets - just build a decent driver's car and leave gadgets for the home!
