BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe (2012 - 2017) 650i M Sport 4d Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Not overgenerous room in the back, especially if the driver is more than 5' 9".This can cause discomfort for passengers on long journeys. Nor would you want to be the middle passenger in the back on long journeys, because you'd have to keep your feet either side of the transmission tunnel. However, our dog loves sitting there, with a human either side to keep him entertained and a good view through the front windscreen.
The satnav sometimes has trouble telling left from right (shows one way and says the other); it particularly dislikes picking routes that involve sideroads and on one occasion failed to recognise I was on a road at all when I was driving along a long-established dual carriageway.
However, the car has a powerful engine, good acceleration and braking and good manoeuvrability for a car of its size. The boot is spacious and the ride is comfortable without being over-soft – it is German, after all.
It would have been a nice touch to add heated seats in the rear as standard: seems a bit cheapskate not to. My former year 2000 7-series had them! It would also be far better with a sunroof that slides right back rather than just hingeing open to leave a small gap at the back.
it has a decent sound system, all the usual gizmos for a luxury car and, of course, it's a gorgeous car to look at and for that reason alone is likely to become a classic in a few years' time.
How reliable do you find the car?
Sometimes the driver's window needed several attempts to close it. Once a warning message came on but was a false alarm. No problems with driving or maintenance. However, the satnav has often been annoyingly wrong.About their car
