BMW 6-Series M6 (2005-2010) boot space, practicality and safety
There’s no official Euro NCAP crash safety rating for the 6-Series, but the 1-Series and 3-Series which were launched at a similar time, both achieved the maximum five star rating for adult occupant safety. BMW’s Dynamic Stability Control is supplemented by five additional safety features to create DSC+. These include brake drying (which applies the pads to the discs in wet conditions to clear a film of water), brake pre-tensioning and brake fade compensation which recognises brake temperature rises and automatically increases brake pressure to prevent any fading.
The M6 also comes with six airbags and Isofix mounting points as standard.
The M6 offers a decent amount of space for a two-plus-two, and with 450 litres of luggage space it is one of the more useful coupes on the market. The convertible offers less luggage space when the roof is down but virtually the same as the coupe with the roof up. The wind break and rear screen also means that roof-down motoring is practical even during the colder months.
