Economy
Value
Currently fantastic - look at what they cost new!
Costs
Depends on condition, but isn't always as much as you might think. BMW parts are not generally dear with a few exceptions. (e.g.ECU's)

On the road
Driving
Amazing for such a big car, although not ideal for twisty, unclassified roads, obviously.
Performance
Stunning in sport mode - Warp factor nine Mr Sulu! Commands respect and you don't have to prove how fast it is, coz it just looks it anyway.
-
Living with it
Reliability
As above for costs. Get a good one and you shouldn't have any trouble, after all this was the top of the range and wouldn't look good if it wasn't reliable.
Image
Still a head-turner - put a special plate on it and only those in the know will know!
Comfort
Seats a bit slidy if you try to throw it about too much.

Security and Service
Security
Not many would bother to attempt it, as much easier pickings elsewhere.
Service
Not worth going to BMW for an old car, as good but expensive, naturally - find a BMW specialist, though ideally a personal referral.

Engine
Fortunately had the later Alusil engine as a dealer replacement. Beware Nikasil engines - find out about this.
