BMW 8-Series 840 Ci 2d Auto (93) (1995/M) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Ultra affordable now, lots of fun for your money but make sure you shop around.
Costs
If you use an independent this car is no more expensive to run than most others.

On the road
Driving
Effortless, imagine a very fast and comfortable armchair. Handling can feel heavy into corners but the brakes are quite effective.
Performance
It's a big old barge so you'll not be beating everyone from a standing start, but once you get going there's not much that can keep up.

Living with it
Reliability
Has never let me down in 4 years of ownership.
Image
Still turns heads as there aren't that many around.
Comfort
Excellent in the front. I've had four adults in mine but the people in the back were pleased to get out at the end of our short journey.

Security and Service
Security
Standard alarm and immobiliser. Windows/sun roof open and close by turning the key should your fob battery run out.
Service
I tried going to a BMW garage once when for a service on a previously owned 328. The garage said that I needed to pay for a new engine but when they realised the car was still under warranty they tried to wriggle out of doing the work.

Not all garages stock the standard tyre size so you may not be able to pull into a Kwik Fit for a same day changeover.
