BMW 8-Series 850 Ci 2d Auto (1994/L) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Bought second hand for the same price as a new Ford Mondeo. Still holding value reasonably. Some previous poor owner suffered the massive initial depreciation.
Costs
Not bad at all, as mine has BMW extended warranty. Actually making a profit on the warranty so far (dodgy stereo replaced in entirety).

On the road
Driving
Just a little down on snappy oomph. Fabulous cruise mobile, though. I can drive five hours and 400 miles without aching. All electrically adjustable on the fly whilst driving and with cruise.
Performance
Cruises impeccably at UK and European motorway speeds. Just needs a bit more overtaking kick. Buy the Motorsport version if you can find one.

Living with it
Reliability
Top notch for such a complicated car. Only very minor faults so far (stereo display etc).
Image
I think it looks fab.
Comfort
Brilliant for long distance driving, or for sitting in commuter traffic in splendid comfort (heated seats, auto box, great stereo, fully electrically adjustable driving position, etc.)

Security and Service
Security
No problems for me, though I have it garaged and with a tracker.
Service
I'm very lucky to have found a pair of great dealers.
